A local event and destination platform serving cities, towns, Chambers of Commerce and tourism organisations across Ireland and the UK.

Overview
Eventstream is a local event and destination platform that helps cities, towns, Chambers of Commerce and tourism organisations provide relevant, up-to-date event and visitor information to residents and visitors. The platform combines mobile apps, event discovery, local content, business listings and direct audience communication.
The challenge
Building a product that works across different cities and organisations requires an architecture that can be configured for each location while sharing a common technical foundation. Content needs to be collected, processed and presented reliably, often from fragmented local sources. Each city platform requires its own branding, commercial relationships and operational support.
My role
I was involved in the product from concept through to development, commercial launch and ongoing operation. My work spanned product definition, mobile app development, Eventstream Scout (the automated event collection technology), content operations, infrastructure, partner relationships, pricing, sales and delivery.

Product concept and architecture
I worked on the original product concept and the multi-city architecture, defining how the platform could be configured and deployed for different locations while maintaining a manageable technical foundation.
Eventstream Scout
Eventstream Scout is the automated event collection technology at the core of the platform. It monitors, collects, processes and normalises event data from a wide range of local sources, reducing the manual effort required to maintain current, comprehensive event listings.
Mobile app development
I developed and maintained the Eventstream Flutter app for iOS and Android, covering event discovery, venue and business listings, visitor information, push notifications and local news. The app is configured for each city deployment.
Infrastructure and hosting
I set up and maintained the hosting and deployment infrastructure for the platform, including Django web services, PostgreSQL databases, DigitalOcean cloud infrastructure, Nginx and automated deployment processes.
Commercial development
I developed partner and customer relationships with Chambers of Commerce, tourism organisations and local authorities across Ireland and the UK, and worked on pricing models, sales materials and commercial planning.
City platforms
Eventstream has been deployed across Kilkenny, Edinburgh, Manchester, York, Cardiff and Brighton, with each platform configured for local content, branding and commercial requirements.
